For you youngin's, Don Kirshner's was one of the few places you could see Rock acts on TV: BOC, KISS, Skynyrd, The Outlaws, Foghat, Black Oak Arkansas...
It came on Saturday nights; opposite SNL, I think. I was too young to "get" SNL.

Seems like rainy Saturdays went like this: ABC Wide World of Sports (with the "agony of defeat" opening sequence), NWA wrestling (with the Fargo Bros., Abdullah the Butcher, and Tojo Yamamoto,), then HeeHaw and Lawrence Welk. Late night, it was DKRC and then Soul Train ("doo-doot, doo-doot, doo-doot-doo-doooo").
